Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Well Construction Expert with CO2 Injection Experience to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of oil and gas wells, focusing on CO2 injection systems for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and carbon capture and storage (CCS). This position requires a deep understanding of well construction techniques, CO2 injection systems, and reservoir management practices. The candidate should be able to ensure that well designs meet safety, operational, and environmental standards while contributing to the success of our CO2-related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Well Design and Construction: Lead the design, planning, and execution of well construction projects, including CO2 injection wells, ensuring that design meets the required technical, operational, and safety standards.
  • CO2 Injection System Expertise: Provide expertise in implementing and managing CO2 injection systems for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and carbon capture storage (CCS). Ensure all systems are optimally designed, implemented, and operated for efficiency and sustainability.
  • Site Evaluation and Feasibility Studies: Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate potential well locations for CO2 injection, considering geological and environmental factors, reservoir characteristics, and CO2 storage capacity.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all well construction and CO2 injection operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies regarding safety, environmental impact, and quality assurance.
  • Project Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of well construction projects, from initial concept through execution to post-completion evaluations. Please make sure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with the required quality standards.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other technical experts to integrate well construction and CO2 injection activities into broader project goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to well construction, CO2 injection operations, and reservoir performance. Implement mitigation strategies to minimize risks to personnel, assets, and the environment.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Provide technical support for well interventions and troubleshooting of CO2 injection systems, including analyzing well performance and recommending optimization measures.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed technical reports, progress updates, and documentation related to well construction and CO2 injection activities, ensuring transparency and accuracy for both internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of [10] years of experience in well construction, including at least [X] years working with CO2 injection technologies for EOR and/or CCS applications.
    • Proven track record in managing complex well construction projects, particularly in CO2 injection and related operations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in well design, construction, and completion techniques, including horizontal and vertical wells.
    • Strong understanding of CO2 injection processes, reservoir management, and well integrity.
    • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools for well design, simulation, and reservoir modeling (e.g., CMG, Eclipse, Petrel, etc.).
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Well Control, CO2 Injection Certification) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to CO2 injection, environmental impacts, and health and safety standards.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical and innovative solutions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Ability to work in high-pressure situations and manage multiple priorities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in project management or leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in CO2 injection and environmental sustainability.
