UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) Quality Control Specialist.

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) Quality Control Specialist to join our team. This position will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of our full suite of UXO services, including detection, assessment, mitigation, and disposal. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in UXO operations, quality control processes, and safety standards, and will be committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety in all aspects of UXO management.

The UXO Quality Control Specialist will play a key role in ensuring that all UXO-related activities meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client expectations, while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control Oversight:
    • Monitor and review all UXO operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices.
    • Inspect UXO field operations, including clearance activities, and ensure the quality and safety of work performed by field teams.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections of equipment, procedures, and reports to ensure that all operational activities meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
    • Review daily reports and documentation to ensure that all findings are accurate and in accordance with the approved UXO work plans.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce safety protocols and standards throughout all stages of UXO detection, disposal, and mitigation operations.
    • Ensure that operations adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including military safety standards and environmental regulations.
    • Monitor compliance with all applicable standards, including OSHA, Department of Defense (DoD), and other relevant organisations.
  • Training & Development:
    • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to UXO field teams and contractors on quality control procedures, safety standards, and best practices.
    • Help develop and maintain training programs to improve the technical skills and knowledge of all personnel involved in UXO operations.
    • Conduct field observations and provide feedback on performance to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed quality control reports and assessments of UXO operations, ensuring that findings, actions taken, and recommendations are well-documented.
    • Assist with the preparation of final UXO reports for clients, including recommendations for further action or mitigation.
    • Ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted to clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Review and evaluate UXO processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement in quality, safety, and efficiency.
    • Recommend changes to procedures or practices based on performance reviews, audits, and feedback from team members.
    • Stay up to date with new technologies, tools, and methods for improving UXO quality control processes and operations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in UXO operations, particularly in quality control or safety oversight.
  • In-depth knowledge of UXO detection, disposal, and mitigation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of industry safety standards, quality assurance processes, and compliance regulations (e.g., DoD, OSHA).
  • Ability to analyse and interpret technical documents, reports, and operational plans.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and feedback to field teams and clients.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues in real-time.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • UXO Technician certification (Level I, II, or III) from a recognized authority.
  • Experience in managing large-scale UXO projects or teams.
  • Familiarity with environmental, military, and local government regulations related to UXO and explosive safety.
  • Experience with advanced UXO detection and clearance technologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require working in outdoor or field environments, with exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
  • Occasional travel to remote or project-specific sites may be required.
  • Must adhere to strict safety standards and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Flexible hours, including possible evening or weekend work, depending on project schedules.
