Subsea Construction Survey

At EPI, we deliver subsea construction survey project support services for structures, pipelines, cables, jumpers, and spool installation and mapping projects for the offshore energy and marine infrastructure sectors. Our highly experienced in-house team provides end-to-end management from early positioning system design and array planning through to offshore installation oversight and final reporting quality control.

We oversee the development of positioning system specifications, project execution plans, and technical scopes of work, ensuring each element aligns with industry best practice and client objectives. This includes specification, design, and array planning for LBL, sparse LBL, USBL, and INS-aided navigation systems; acoustic, inertial, and laser/camera mapping and metrology; and LBL, sparse LBL, and USBL performance prediction. We provide technical consultancy to field planners, equipment specifiers, and project surveyors, along with independent technical review and testing of new subsea positioning technology, to guarantee technical readiness before mobilisation.

During offshore execution, EPI maintains a rigorous focus on quality assurance, providing experienced and trusted client representatives, equipment and system audit and inspection, and subsea positioning system calibration QC. Our teams support jumper and spool metrology, and provide subsea installation oversight and assurance across structures, pipelines, cables, jumpers, and spools, as well as rig move support for jack-up and semi-submersible operations, providing continuous survey QC, data and report coordination, and HSE and compliance oversight throughout the campaign.

This capability is underpinned by a permanent technical team working alongside our offshore client representatives on active campaigns worldwide. Our in-house staff hold FIG/IHO/ICA Category A hydrographic certification with decades of combined experience in offshore survey operations, subsea technology development, and positioning system design. This in-house technical leadership provides continuity of technical oversight across deepwater and shallow water field developments worldwide, from positioning system specification and array planning through to offshore commissioning.

Through this integrated approach, EPI ensures that every construction survey campaign is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards, delivering the positioning accuracy and installation assurance our clients depend on for successful subsea construction.
