Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Reservoir Engineer with expertise in Static and Dynamic CO2 Injection Modelling to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in reservoir evaluation, modelling, and management for CO2 injection projects related to enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and carbon capture and storage (CCS). This position requires advanced technical expertise in both static and dynamic reservoir modelling, with a strong focus on integrating CO2 injection data to optimize reservoir performance and maximize recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Static and Dynamic Modelling: Lead the development and execution of static and dynamic reservoir models, focusing on CO2 injection and its impact on reservoir performance. This includes geological modelling, reservoir characterization, history matching, and simulation of CO2 plume behaviour.
- CO2 Injection Optimization: Apply reservoir engineering principles to design and optimize CO2 injection strategies for EOR and CCS projects. Monitor and analyze the performance of CO2 injection wells, recommending adjustments and improvements as needed.
- Simulation Studies: Use advanced reservoir simulation software (e.g., CMG, Eclipse, or similar tools) to create dynamic models that predict the long-term behaviour of CO2 injection and storage. Simulate injection scenarios and forecast CO2 breakthrough, pressure build-up, and other reservoir behaviours.
- Integration with Field Data: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate real-time field, production, and geological data into reservoir models. Perform data analysis to update models continuously to reflect evolving reservoir conditions.
- Reservoir Performance Analysis: Conduct a detailed analysis of reservoir performance post-CO2 injection, including pressure, temperature, and saturation changes. Assess the effectiveness of injection strategies and propose solutions for optimizing CO2 storage and recovery.
- Feasibility Studies and Risk Assessment: Contribute to feasibility studies and risk assessments by analyzing reservoir capacity for CO2 storage, potential leakage risks, and long-term storage stability. Provide data-driven recommendations for improving reservoir management practices.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with geologists, drilling engineers, production teams, and other technical experts to ensure the successful implementation of CO2 injection projects. Communicate modelling results and recommendations to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing reservoir modelling findings, CO2 injection performance, and optimization strategies. Ensure all work is well-documented for future reference and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest developments in CO2 injection technologies, reservoir engineering practices, and simulation tools. Contribute to the advancement of best practices and innovative solutions within the organization.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of [10] years of experience in reservoir engineering, with a specific focus on CO2 injection modelling (both static and dynamic).
- Proven expertise in CO2 EOR and/or CCS projects, including modelling and simulation of CO2 behaviour in reservoirs.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in advanced reservoir simulation software (e.g., CMG, Eclipse, Petrel, etc.).
- Strong background in static and dynamic modelling techniques, including history matching, production forecasting, and sensitivity analysis.
- Expertise in CO2 injection processes, reservoir management, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods.
- Knowledge of Reservoir Engineering: In-depth understanding of reservoir characteristics, fluid flow, well testing, pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) analysis, and reservoir modelling.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in reservoir engineering, CO2 injection technologies, or petroleum engineering are preferred.
