We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Client Representative for Seismic Quality Control, specialising in both land and marine seismic operations. The successful candidate will oversee and ensure seismic quality control standards are implemented during seismic data acquisition projects, ensuring that all work meets client expectations and industry standards. This role requires a deep understanding of seismic data acquisition processes, quality assurance techniques, and the ability to liaise effectively between the client and field teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Control Oversight:
- Monitor seismic data acquisition activities for land and marine projects to ensure they adhere to the agreed-upon quality standards and specifications.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures in alignment with industry standards (e.g., ISO, API, and other relevant standards).
- Perform routine and random checks on seismic equipment, field operations, and data quality, ensuring that all perform optimally.
- Verify seismic data integrity by reviewing field reports, processing data, and coordinating with the processing team to address discrepancies or issues.
- Client Liaison:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client concerning seismic quality control matters.
- Communicate effectively with the client to discuss progress, findings, concerns, and any deviations from the project plan.
- Provide regular updates to the client on the status of seismic acquisition, data quality, and project timelines.
- Field Team Coordination:
- Collaborate with field supervisors, seismic crews, and project managers to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Provide support to the field teams by addressing quality control concerns and offering practical solutions.
- Assist in the training and developing field personnel on seismic quality control procedures and best practices.
- Data Evaluation and Reporting:
- Analyze and evaluate the quality of seismic data collected, identifying any technical issues that may affect data quality or project timelines.
- Prepare detailed quality control reports summarising observations, findings, and recommendations for clients and internal teams.
- Track performance metrics related to seismic data quality and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure seismic operations comply with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify and mitigate any risks associated with seismic acquisition activities, particularly in marine and challenging land environments.
- Maintain a strong focus on maintaining safe working practices for land and marine projects.
- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality control issues in the field and during data processing by liaising with the technical team, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Make on-the-spot decisions when issues arise, ensuring that any corrective actions align with client requirements and operational standards.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in seismic operations, focusing on quality control and data acquisition for land and marine environments.
- Experience with seismic acquisition equipment, tools, and data processing techniques.
- Prior experience working as a client representative or in a client-facing role in the seismic industry is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of seismic data acquisition, quality control procedures, and best practices in both land and marine environments.
- Familiarity with seismic software tools for data processing, quality assurance, and reporting (e.g., GeoFrame, OASIS, SEISAN).
- Knowledge of ISO standards and industry-specific regulations related to seismic operations.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, particularly in dynamic field environments.
- Ability to work in remote or challenging environments, including offshore and on land.
- Certifications:
- Certification in seismic quality control or a related discipline is an asset.
- Safety training and certifications (e.g., HSE, offshore safety) are preferred.
Additional Information:
- Travel Requirements: This role may require frequent travel to remote field sites, including offshore locations for marine operations and challenging land environments.
- Work Environment: The work will be performed in office settings and on-site in the field, with occasional extended hours or night shifts depending on project requirements.
