EPI Welcomes Dr Alan Lowdon OBE
EPI are excited to announce that Dr Alan Lowdon OBE will be joining the EPI Group (EPI) as a Renewable Energy Advisor to the Board effective 1st April 2023. Dr Lowdon is currently the Director of Strategic Development for the Bristol Community College and National Wind Institute in New Bedford Massachusetts, USA; Dealmaker for the Global Entrepreneur Programme for the Department of International Trade, UK; and is Professor of Practice, Durham University Energy Institute.
Alan studied Applied Mathematics at Aston & Teesside Universities and then Engineering Mathematics at Newcastle, gaining his PhD in Fluid Mechanics and Vibration Analysis from the University of Northumbria in 1989, and later his MBA from Durham University in 2001. Alan was Awarded Most Excellent Order (OBE) of the British Empire for ‘Services to UK-US Offshore Wind Collaboration’ in the January 2022 Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
Alan is an experienced energy, utilities, clean-tech innovation and commercialization professional with a strong blue-chip, start-up and government RTO leadership track record, with boardroom-experience and global connections across government, industry and academia. Alan has well-honed leadership, team building, team working, influencing and mentoring skills; and currently operates a portfolio of interests at the intersection of innovation strategy, finance/commercialisation, technology and operations, with sustainability and carbon reduction a primary focus.
