Hydrogen – part of our future energy mix

The UK government have today announced £30 million of funding for 5 UK projects looking at whether hydrogen can be used to reduce carbon emissions from industry and domestic homes. Two schemes in particular are already underway – The Hynet project in the North West of England and Acorn project near Peterhead, Scotland. Both projects are based on the production of hydrogen from natural gas, which then involves CCUS (carbon capture, usage and storage).

Can these projects help pave the way to achieving Net Zero?
